Church

We intend to establish a community church St. Peter and Paul in Okagwe Item to serve as a place of worship as well as a center for social and cultural activities.

The church will be Catholic and dedicated to the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The church will also be open to other denominations for their services and gatherings.

The nearest place where a Mass is celebrated is about 6 kilometers away, which means that Catholics in Okagwe Item often have to travel this distance on foot.

Project objectives

• Establishment of a community church that not only provides a place for worship but also functions as a center for mutual support, cultural events, and social services.

• Infrastructure: A welcoming worship hall, community rooms, counseling rooms, and a multipurpose hall for community events.

• Community programs: Initiatives such as a mentoring program for youth, adult education, and outreach social services tailored to local needs.

• Cultural integration: Spaces that celebrate local heritage and promote intergenerational dialogue.

Phases

• Phase 1: 3¾ plots of land have already been provided through a donation ✔

• Phase 2: Design, approval, and construction of the building

• Phase 3: Implementation of community programs and services

We are in Phase 2. The groundbreaking took place in August 2025.
